Time Flying by...

Time is flying by here at Magnolia Lane!

Since our last check in a lot has happened! I am about half way through my prep of the LOTW curriculum prep. I was really hoping to have it finished by now but there is a good reason why it isn't - if that justifies it any. The reason is that I willing be going to school too! I am returning to be a college student. I am going to be working towards a Master's in Computer Science. I have already started my first class as of May 28th. So far everything is going well on that front, well, except that I need to finish my homework and I've yet to do so. (Instead I'm here posting.)

Also, I am planning to officially start Kindergarten with Puchki in Aug/Sept. I've been researching and reading about all the different curriculum programs and trying to decide which ones we need and which ones will work for us. I've decided to use Hand Writing Without Tears (HWWT) and I will be using Abeka for reading. (My good friend gave me a box of Abeka K4 and 1st grade materials). I will probably also mix in some of the other Abeka materials but don't plan on exclusively using them. I'm considering using Math U See for Math. I need to get my thoughts down and settled. lol!

I think it is time to be a good example and get to work with my homework. ;)

Getting Ready and TYC2R Lesson

For the past week all my "free" time is being put to working on our curriculum materials. I got the LOTW curriculum and K4 Curriculum from Confessions of a Homeschooler. I've been printing, cutting, and laminating. Puchki won't be required to start Kindergarten until Sept. 2014 but I feel that he is ready and should "go to school" now. As soon as I get these things ready we will start. I hope to use these over the summer and start with Kindergarten in Sept.

We've been working through the book Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. To see Puchki go from just knowing his alphabet and letter sounds to reading so well has just been amazing. Yesterday we did Lesson 57 today we will do Lesson 58.
